Vet NurseVeterinary Nurses assist vets in treating animals and provide a source of information to customers. They also perform cleaning and sterilisation of equipment and clerical duties.

A Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing is required to qualify to provide a high level of support. You may be able to find employment as a student Vet Nurse while studying.

There are specialist veterinary recruitment agencies to help you find work once you have qualified such as Kookaburra Veterinary Employment and Vet Link.

Alternatively approach your local vets directly, businesses usually like to recruit locally and are impressed by people who show initiative, so this will give you an edge if they happen to have a vacancy. Some vet businesses will not bother advertising a position if they can easily find someone they like without doing so. This is a great way to try to get your ‘foot in the door’ if you have no previous experience in the industry.
